I couldn’t agree more! I’ve been saying the same thing for years, keep my phones’ microphones turned off, got rid of Messenger over 2 years ago, and last year deleted my FB account. I’ve also deleted my Twitter and Instagram accounts and for various reasons, I’ve long had several Google/gmail accounts, ALL of which I’m in the process of getting rid of (because I feel ultimately Google will end up being much more dangerous than Facebook). I’ve chosen secure email services, alternative web browsers — including non that even use Chronium — because I distrust Google that much, say whatever you want about open source — I’ve started using new open source independent search engines, encryption, and I plan on have virtually no social media or any accounts or apps at all that could feasibly spy on me and sell my soul to the highest bidder, although there’s every reason to assume some clever companies will come out with seemingly innocent sites/apps that will only be a variation of this business model. I’ll deal with that when I get to that. Everyone knows Facebook is losing users and potential users in droves, and that Generation Z will have nothing to do with them. My hope is they’ll soon become as irrelevant as they made MySpace, they’ll get a late ’80s AT&T action, or total bankruptcy as advertisers flee them seeing their business model that made them so successful as made them a loser pariah…
